Popular social media commentator VeryDarkMan has stirred debate online after alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be pursuing a broader political strategy beyond the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, VeryDarkMan claimed that recent political developments suggest what he described as a long-term consolidation of power rather than preparations solely focused on the next election cycle.
“I think there’s a bigger game plan with Tinubu and APC,” he said, citing activities such as food distribution initiatives, political mobilization movements like the “City Boy Movement,” and the growing number of state governors aligned with the ruling party.
According to him, these developments indicate a possible attempt to strengthen political dominance nationwide. “I don’t think President Tinubu is preparing for 2027. I think he’s preparing for 2032; I think he wants to go for a third term,” he alleged, adding that the current political landscape appears to be moving toward what he described as a one-party system.
The remarks have generated mixed reactions across social media, with supporters and critics debating the implications of political consolidation and democratic competition in Nigeria.
Political analysts note that Nigeria’s constitution currently limits presidents to two terms in office, making any third-term ambition subject to constitutional amendments and legislative approval.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the presidency nor the APC had issued an official response to the claims. Observers say the comments reflect growing public discourse around governance, political strategy, and the future of Nigeria’s democratic system ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
