Exactly two years ago, global tech giant Google appointed Akunne Alex Uchenna Okosi as its Managing Director for Africa, a role that positioned him at the forefront of driving digital transformation and economic growth across the continent.
Okosi, a Nigerian-born business leader and innovator, has since led Google’s strategic operations in Africa, focusing on expanding internet access, empowering digital entrepreneurs, and promoting inclusive technological advancement.
Under his leadership, Google has deepened its investment in local content creation, digital skills training, and startup incubation—helping to bridge the digital divide and strengthen Africa’s tech ecosystem.
Before joining Google, Okosi held senior roles at YouTube Africa and ViacomCBS Networks Africa, where he championed African creativity and digital storytelling. His experience continues to shape Google’s mission to make technology accessible and beneficial to all Africans.
