Activist and political figure Omoyele Sowore has publicly criticized several high-profile Nigerian leaders, including Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Alex Otti, and former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, for not responding to his critiques.
In a social media post, Sowore claimed that the lack of responses stems from his practice of challenging leaders “with facts,” asserting that they prefer to avoid direct engagement. “You’ll notice that whenever I talk about Peter Obi, El Rufai, Alex Otti, Malami, none of them responds to me… it’s because I know all of them in their individual capacity and they know I only challenge with facts, that’s why they hide behind all kinds of people and places,” he wrote.
Sowore also criticized the praise some Nigerians give to Governor Alex Otti, describing it as undeserved. “People are only praising Alex Otti’s mediocrity because they’ve never seen proper standard of governance,” he added, calling for higher accountability and performance standards from elected officials.
The remarks have sparked debates online about political accountability, the role of public criticism in governance, and perceptions of leadership performance across Nigeria’s political landscape.
Observers note that Sowore’s outspoken style continues to polarize public opinion, drawing both support from advocates of civic activism and criticism from those aligned with the leaders he targets.
