Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi visited Kano to join his elder brother, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and members of the Kwankwasiyya movement in celebrating their annual Sallah festivities.
Obi expressed gratitude for the warm reception and camaraderie during the event, emphasizing the importance of unity across political, ethnic, and religious divides in Nigeria.
“At this crucial time in our nation’s history, we must continue to unite across all divides political, ethnic, and religious—to restore hope and rebuild trust in our country,” Obi stated.
Highlighting Kano’s role in national development, Obi described the state as a “vital pillar in Nigeria’s socio-economic and political landscape,” noting its rich history of commerce, industry, and human capital as a testament to what is possible when leadership is guided by vision, competence, and compassion.
The former Anambra State governor concluded his message with an optimistic call for national renewal: “A new Nigeria is POssible.”
Observers note that Obi’s visit reinforces his commitment to fostering political dialogue and collaboration, while also strengthening ties with key figures and movements in northern Nigeria ahead of future civic engagements.
