A heartwarming story of love, resilience, and dedication has emerged from a former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) participant, who credits her now-husband with helping save her life during a medical emergency while they were redeployed to different states.
After completing their NYSC camping in Gombe State, the couple applied for redeployment due to security concerns. She was sent to Edo State, while he was redeployed to Osun State. Shortly after settling in Edo, the woman experienced a severe health crisis and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite receiving oxygen, she continued struggling to breathe.
With her father deceased and reluctant to alarm her mother, she provided the doctor with her boyfriend’s number. Throughout the night, the doctor coordinated with her boyfriend who is a trained pharmacist to stabilize her condition. By the following evening, she had regained normal breathing.
The doctor, impressed by her boyfriend’s attentiveness and knowledge, reportedly told her, “That man cares a whole lot about you and he seems very intelligent, I hope you never take him for granted.”
Reflecting on the ordeal, the woman said she was stunned by the level of care her boyfriend showed. Their NYSC bond, forged in challenging circumstances, eventually blossomed into marriage. Today, the couple is blessed with three children and continues to celebrate the resilience and love that brought them together.
Their story has since inspired many, serving as a reminder of devotion, teamwork, and the extraordinary lengths people can go to care for loved ones.
