The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Eben Boluwade, has visited the Ekiti State Broilers Production Scheme (EBOPS) hub in Efon Alaaye, where he commended participating youths for their dedication to agricultural development.
During the visit, the commissioner praised the trainees for their commitment and urged them to take full advantage of the programme as a pathway toward becoming successful agropreneurs. He emphasized the importance of agriculture as a sustainable means of job creation and economic empowerment for young people in the state.
Boluwade also held an interactive session with the participants, listening to their concerns and feedback regarding the programme. He reassured them of the continued support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration in promoting youth empowerment, food security, and wealth creation through agriculture.
The Ekiti State Broilers Production Scheme (EBOPS), an initiative of the State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, was established to train and empower youths in modern poultry production. Since its launch, the programme has trained and empowered nearly 150 youths, while about 250 participants are currently engaged across seven operational hubs statewide.
At the Efon Alaaye hub, which became operational last month, 34 youths are currently managing approximately 12,000 broiler birds scheduled for culling next week, marking a significant milestone for the initiative.
Officials say the programme forms part of broader efforts by the state government to strengthen food production, reduce unemployment, and position agriculture as a viable career option for young Nigerians.
