EFCC Scammed Me, Collected Millions for Nothing” — Rapper Oladips Alleges Unlawful Detention

Nigerian rapper Oladips has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of unlawfully detaining him and extorting millions of naira during a five-day stay in their custody.

In a viral social media post, the indigenous hip-hop artiste recounted his alleged ordeal, claiming that despite not being involved in internet fraud, he was treated like a criminal and subjected to inhumane conditions.

“I don’t do Yahoo, yet EFCC held me in their cell for five days,” Oladips wrote. “EFCC scammed me — they collected millions from me for absolutely nothing and made me suffer in their nonsense cell. I should have sued them.”

The rapper expressed frustration over what he described as systemic abuse and harassment of young Nigerians, particularly entertainers, by security operatives. He added that his experience left him traumatized and distrustful of law enforcement authorities.

Oladips’ revelation has sparked outrage among fans and social media users, with many calling for the EFCC to investigate the incident and clear the air on the growing allegations of extortion and misconduct within the agency.

As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has yet to issue an official response to Oladips’ claims.

The incident adds to ongoing public debate over the treatment of Nigerian youths by anti-graft agencies and the urgent need for institutional reforms to ensure fairness, accountability, and respect for human rights.
