The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly handed over N3.93 billion to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), stating that the funds were recovered from “certain individuals” associated with an oil company.
According to the commission, the recovered amount is part of ongoing efforts to repatriate misappropriated funds in the oil and gas sector. While the EFCC did not disclose the identities of the individuals involved, the agency emphasized that the money will be returned to the national oil company for proper utilization.
This development follows a series of high-profile investigations and recoveries in Nigeria’s oil industry, highlighting the government’s commitment to combating financial crimes and ensuring accountability in key economic sectors.
Industry analysts note that such recoveries, when repatriated to entities like NNPC, could help fund strategic projects and strengthen governance in Nigeria’s energy sector. The EFCC has reiterated its dedication to continuing investigations into corruption and mismanagement across oil firms in the country.
