The Bauchi Progressives Forum has criticized former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, urging him to refrain from what it described as “baseless and reckless allegations” directed at Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its President, Comrade Isa Sani Warji, the group strongly defended the minister’s performance in public office, portraying him as a disciplined and committed leader who has made significant contributions to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.
According to the Forum, claims linking Tuggar to internal divisions within the party are unfounded. The group insisted that the minister has instead played a unifying role, fostering cooperation among party stakeholders and strengthening cohesion across various political blocs in the state.
The statement further noted that Tuggar’s political interventions have boosted grassroots mobilisation and reinforced the APC’s structure in Bauchi despite what the Forum described as a “hostile and ineffective” state administration.
The group called on political actors to prioritize constructive engagement and avoid statements capable of creating unnecessary tension within the party and the state’s political environment.
As of press time, Isa Yuguda had not publicly responded to the Forum’s remarks. The exchange adds to ongoing political debates within Bauchi State as parties and stakeholders reposition ahead of future political contests.
