Shock as Polling Unit Records 213 Accredited Voters but APC Scores 1,212 Votes

Confusion and outrage have trailed the release of results from a polling unit where figures recorded appear to contradict basic arithmetic.

According to the official breakdown from the unit:

  • Registered voters: 345

  • Total accredited voters: 213

  • Total ballots issued: 213

  • Unused ballots: 132

  • Spoilt ballots: Nil

  • Rejected ballots: 2

  • Total votes cast: 213

  • Total valid votes: 211

However, in what many have described as a glaring discrepancy, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was reportedly credited with 1,212 votes in the same unit — a figure nearly six times higher than the total number of accredited voters.

The result has sparked widespread reactions, with observers questioning how a party could secure more votes than the total number of people accredited to vote. Critics describe the situation as mathematically impossible and are calling for immediate clarification from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Social media users have labeled the situation “Origirigi” — a slang term implying something suspicious or manipulated — as they demand transparency and accountability in the collation process.

Election observers note that such discrepancies, if verified, could undermine public confidence in the electoral system and stress the need for a thorough audit of results and strict enforcement of electoral guidelines.

As of the time of reporting, there has been no official clarification regarding the conflicting figures. Citizens and stakeholders continue to demand answers over what many consider a serious irregularity.
