Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has dedicated his 2025 Man of the Year award to former Governor and current Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, while highlighting the delicate balance of leadership in the state.
Speaking on Friday in Lagos during the award presentation by New Telegraph, Fubara said he often acts “weak” to preserve peace and stability in Rivers, underscoring the strains of political leadership and the toll of ongoing conflicts.
The governor emphasized the importance of reconciliation, noting that fostering harmony in a politically dynamic state sometimes requires restraint and patience. He framed the award as a tribute to Wike, acknowledging his enduring influence on the state and the collaborative efforts needed to maintain governance continuity.
Political analysts describe Fubara’s remarks as a gesture of respect toward his predecessor while simultaneously signaling a commitment to stability and measured leadership in a state historically marked by political tension.
The award recognition and Fubara’s dedication have sparked discussions among observers about political maturity, reconciliation, and the strategic approaches leaders take to manage complex state dynamics.
