A disturbing video circulating online has sparked widespread outrage after it allegedly showed blindfolded villagers from Northern Nigeria being brutally assaulted by suspected terrorists.
In the viral footage, the victims, whose identities and exact location are yet to be officially confirmed, were seen blindfolded and restrained while being subjected to severe physical abuse by armed men believed to be members of a terrorist group operating in the region. The video has since triggered renewed concerns over insecurity and the safety of rural communities across northern parts of the country.
Security analysts say the incident, if verified, reflects the continued threat posed by extremist groups such as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and other insurgent factions that have carried out attacks, kidnappings, and mass atrocities in several northern states.
