Lagos Completes 9km Lagos-Bound Carriageway in 27 Days, Advances Lekki Corridor Rehabilitation

The Lagos State government has announced the completion of a 9-kilometre Lagos-bound carriageway as part of the ongoing phased rehabilitation of the 28-kilometre Lekki corridor.

The project, reportedly completed in just 27 days, marks a significant milestone in improving transportation infrastructure along one of the state’s busiest routes.

According to officials, the newly completed stretch is expected to ease traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance road safety for commuters traveling between Lekki and Lagos Island. The rapid pace of work underscores the state government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects efficiently.

The phased 28km Lekki corridor rehabilitation plan involves resurfacing, widening, and modernizing major stretches of the expressway, including drainage upgrades, improved lighting, and pedestrian facilities. State authorities have assured residents that the remaining sections will be completed systematically, minimizing disruption while ensuring high-quality construction standards.

Commuters have welcomed the development, with many expressing optimism that the project will alleviate chronic traffic congestion along the corridor and contribute to smoother commuting experiences for residents and commercial transport operators alike.

The Lagos State government also emphasized that continuous monitoring and maintenance will follow the completion of each phase to safeguard long-term road quality and improve overall urban mobility across the metropolis.
