Drama at FCT Police Command as Minister David Umahi Confronted Over Alleged Harassment Case

A tense confrontation unfolded today at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, involving Minister of Works, David Umahi, over allegations made by a Lagos-based woman, TracyNither Nicolas Ohiri.

According to reports, Ohiri, a married woman, had previously accused Minister Umahi of owing her N250 million over a 12-year period and of making advances toward her. The matter, fundamentally a civil dispute, escalated when she was allegedly illegally arrested in Lagos on charges of “cyberbullying”, flown to Abuja, and detained at the FCT Police Command.

Sources say that the police arranged a meeting inside a conference room where Umahi was brought in, allegedly to threaten, intimidate, and demean Ohiri. The situation reportedly devolved into a criminal spectacle rather than being treated as a civil dispute.

An eyewitness account indicates that upon arrival, the confrontation was immediately dismantled, and Minister Umahi left the facility visibly angry. Despite this, police reportedly refused to grant Ohiri bail or release her, with claims that Umahi allegedly warned she “has not seen anything yet” on his way out.

Civil rights advocates have condemned the incident, describing it as an abuse of power and a politicized handling of a private dispute. The episode raises serious questions about due process, police conduct, and the use of state machinery to intimidate civilians.

Calls are now mounting for independent investigations to ensure the woman’s rights are protected and that public officeholders are held accountable for alleged abuses of power.
