A newly formed youth movement, the Youth Coalition for Renewed Hope (YCRH), has pledged to mobilise five million young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The coalition was officially inaugurated on Monday at an event that gathered young leaders, professionals and political stakeholders from across the country. Organisers described the launch as the beginning of a coordinated effort to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape by increasing youth participation in governance and civic processes.
Positioning itself as a youth-led platform, the YCRH said it aims to bridge the gap between young Nigerians and decision-makers while promoting inclusive leadership and national development. Speaking during the inauguration, coalition leaders unveiled a roadmap focused on voter mobilisation, civic education and grassroots engagement nationwide.
According to the organisers, the movement plans to mobilise five million youths through awareness campaigns, community-based programmes and strategic partnerships aligned with the “Renewed Hope Agenda.” The group also intends to create platforms where emerging political actors can engage directly with citizens, exchange ideas and encourage constructive dialogue.
The leadership emphasised that the coalition will prioritise equipping young people with the tools, networks and opportunities needed to actively influence policy discussions and democratic processes.
The newly announced national executives include:
- George Achuba – President and Founder
- Farouk Isma’il Umar – Vice President and Co-founder
- Aliyu Musa Garba – Executive Member and Co-founder
- Barr. Samuel Orekoya – National Director, Research & Strategic Planning and Lagos State Coordinator
- Friday Paul
- Suleiman Abdulmajid, PhD
- Isa Bello Abubakar
- Maryam Ladidi Bello
- Comrade Alhassan B. Salman
In their remarks, the executives pledged to build a transparent and inclusive coalition capable of harnessing the creativity and energy of Nigerian youths.
Participants at the event described the initiative as timely, noting that young people make up a significant portion of Nigeria’s population and will play a decisive role in shaping the country’s political and socio-economic future.
With its inauguration complete, the YCRH says it is moving into a nationwide mobilisation phase, with planned outreach programmes and grassroots coordination across the six geopolitical zones in the months ahead.
