Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been denied bail and remanded in custody by a Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, following his arraignment on multiple criminal charges.
Portable faces nine criminal counts, including assault, car theft, and resisting arrest, according to court records. During proceedings, the presiding judge refused bail and ordered that the singer remain in custody until January 19, 2026, pending further hearing.
The arraignment has reignited discussions on celebrity accountability in Nigeria, with social media users debating the legal system’s handling of high-profile cases. Many observers emphasized that no individual, regardless of fame, is above the law.
Portable’s legal team is expected to continue efforts to challenge the charges, while the court prepares to resume proceedings later this month.
