Nigerian Army Raises Concerns Over Misrepresentation of COAS’s Remarks in Rivers

The Nigerian Army has expressed concern over what it called the deliberate misrepresentation of statements made by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) during an engagement in Rivers State.

In a statement issued from Abuja, the Army emphasized that the COAS’s remarks were taken out of context, creating public misunderstanding and fueling unnecessary speculation about the Army’s operations and stance on security issues in the region.

The Nigerian Army urged the media and the public to ensure accurate reporting and verification of official statements before dissemination, stressing that misinterpretation of military communications can undermine operational integrity and public trust.

Officials reiterated the Army’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and adherence to constitutional duties, while continuing efforts to maintain peace and security across the country.

The Army also called on citizens to support security operations with credible information and avoid spreading unverified narratives that could complicate ongoing counter-insurgency and internal security operations.
