Lady Cries Out as Ex-Boyfriend Breaks Into Apartment, Takes Back Gifts After Breakup

A Lagos woman has shared a distressing account of how her ex-boyfriend allegedly broke into her apartment and confiscated all the items he had gifted her during their relationship, following her decision to end things.

According to the woman, whose identity is being withheld for privacy, the incident occurred shortly after she informed her former partner that she was no longer interested in continuing the relationship. Shocked and heartbroken, she revealed that he entered her apartment without consent and removed personal belongings, ranging from electronics to furniture, that he had purchased for her while they were together.

“This was my space, my home, and I never expected someone I trusted to do this. I feel violated and humiliated,” she said in a social media post detailing the ordeal.

Legal experts say that regardless of past relationships or gifts exchanged, forcibly taking items from someone’s residence constitutes theft and unlawful entry, both of which are criminal offenses under Nigerian law. Authorities have reportedly been notified, and the woman is seeking legal recourse.

The incident has sparked a wider conversation online about boundaries, consent, and the limits of “ownership” in relationships, with many urging victims in similar situations to report such acts immediately rather than tolerate them in silence.
