Ekpoma Residents Condemn Recent Protest, Declare Support for Governor Okpebholo

Some residents of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, have publicly condemned the protest that took place in the community a few days ago, distancing themselves from the action and expressing support for Governor Monday Okpebholo.

The residents described the protest as unnecessary and unrepresentative of the general will of the people, stressing that it did not reflect the views of the wider Ekpoma community. According to them, the demonstration risked escalating tensions and disrupting peace in the area.

Speaking during a show of solidarity, the residents reaffirmed their confidence in Governor Okpebholo’s leadership, urging him to remain focused on governance and ongoing efforts to address security and development challenges in the state. They also called on youths and community leaders to embrace dialogue and lawful engagement rather than protests that could lead to unrest.

The development comes amid heightened public debate over security and governance in parts of Edo State, with stakeholders emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation between citizens and government to achieve lasting peace and progress.
