The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has clarified that the organizers of the recent protest in Ekpoma were not students of the institution.
Speaking on the development, the SUG President stated that investigations and available information indicate that the individuals who coordinated the protest did not represent the student body of Ambrose Alli University. He emphasized that AAU students were not involved in planning or leading the demonstration, distancing the institution and its students from the unrest.
The clarification comes amid heightened tension and public debate following the protest, which drew attention to security concerns in Ekpoma. The SUG leadership urged authorities and the public to avoid associating students with actions they did not initiate, noting that such assumptions could unfairly place students at risk.
The SUG President further called for calm, constructive dialogue, and collaboration between residents, security agencies, and relevant stakeholders to address insecurity in the area, while also appealing for the protection of students and their rights.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement identifying the organizers of the protest as investigations continue.
