Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has made controversial claims against former presidential candidate Peter Obi, alleging involvement in drug trafficking.
In a public statement, Dokubo said:
"Peter Obi is a criminal and a drug baron. A lady that he used as courier is in prison in Peru."
The allegations have quickly generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing skepticism and demanding evidence to substantiate the claims. Others have condemned the remarks as politically motivated, noting the timing and potential impact on public perception.
Neither Peter Obi nor his representatives have issued an official response to the allegations. Observers say the claims could spark legal scrutiny if pursued in court, while political analysts highlight the growing trend of personal attacks and unverified accusations in Nigerian political discourse.
