The Ekiti State Government has announced steady progress on the 900-seater Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting sports development and expanding recreational opportunities in the state.
The update follows the New Year address by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development through sports. According to state officials, the facility is being developed to serve as a hub for talent discovery, training, and competitive events.
When completed, the complex will host a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, including basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, table tennis, gymnastics, chess, weightlifting, para-weightlifting, boxing, judo, karate, kickboxing, and kung fu.
The project is designed not only to enhance athletic performance but also to create opportunities for job creation, entrepreneurship, and wealth generation, positioning sports as a viable economic driver in Ekiti State.
The development of the indoor sports complex further underscores the Ekiti State Government’s long-term strategy of leveraging sports to nurture talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community engagement across the state.
