Yofin is expanding opportunities for young Nigerians in agriculture as it partnered with the Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture to host a seminar and workshop aimed at boosting youth participation in modern farming.
The Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, represented Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the event, where he officially declared the workshop open. Dr. Alabi emphasized that agriculture must be seen as a business-driven venture, urging young farmers to adopt innovation, embrace agribusiness, and explore the full agricultural value chain.
He noted that empowering youth in agriculture is critical to achieving long-term food security and reducing the nation’s dependence on imported food.
SSA Mohammed Baba Musa further reaffirmed that the initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to providing young people with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive in the agricultural sector.
The seminar brought together representatives from the Ministry of Youth, the Ministry of Livestock, and other strategic agencies, all united in supporting the development of young agripreneurs.
Participants engaged in sessions covering: Sustainable and modern farming methods, Climate-smart agriculture, Agribusiness development and expansion and Strategies for improving productivity and profitability.
Stakeholders highlighted that creating an enabling environment for young farmers remains key to transforming Kwara State’s agricultural landscape.
The event marks another milestone in efforts to build a vibrant generation of youth-led agripreneurs capable of driving food security, economic growth, and innovation across the state.
