Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, supported by the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force, have successfully neutralised several key Boko Haram commanders during coordinated airstrikes in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.
According to sources, the airstrikes were conducted on December 25, 2025, following actionable human intelligence on terrorist movements in the area. The initial strike reportedly killed at least 10 terrorists, including notorious figures Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye, and Bamusa. Another militant, Ubaida, sustained serious injuries.
A follow-up airstrike by Nigerian Air Force assets eliminated three additional terrorists, further crippling the insurgents’ operational capabilities in the region. Security sources confirmed that most of the neutralised fighters were loyal to Bafu, a notorious Boko Haram commander in the Bama axis.
Assessments indicate a significant degradation of Boko Haram’s fighting strength in Bama, although the security situation remains fluid and unpredictable due to the insurgents’ tactics.
The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian military to dismantle Boko Haram’s command structure and restore stability in northeastern Nigeria.
