Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti has stirred fresh controversy after sharing a disturbing story alleging exploitation of a wealthy Nigerian woman who was battling cancer.
According to Seun Kuti, a white medical doctor had reportedly informed the woman and her family that her cancer had reached its final stage and advised them to prepare for her death. Unwilling to accept the prognosis, the woman and her children allegedly brought her back to Nigeria in search of spiritual intervention.
Seun claimed that upon meeting Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the cleric reportedly assured the family that nothing bad would happen to the woman and allegedly collected $250,000 from them. Despite the assurances, Seun said the woman eventually died.
He further alleged that when the grieving children returned to confront the pastor, he asked them to wait outside while he went in to pray for the woman to wake up. According to Seun, the pastor reportedly told them that if she failed to wake up within one hour, it would mean that God truly wanted her dead.
The claims, shared by Seun Kuti during a public commentary, have sparked intense reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing outrage and calling for accountability, while others cautioned against accepting the story as fact without independent verification.
As of the time of this report, Pastor Adeboye and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have not issued any official response to the allegations. The story has once again ignited debates around faith, desperation, medical treatment, and the alleged exploitation of vulnerable individuals by religious leaders.
