Popular Nigerian media personality, Tolu Oniru-Demuren, widely known as Toolz, has stirred reactions online after questioning why some individuals relocate to the United States only to demand the enforcement of Sharia law.
Taking to her social media page, Toolz wrote:
“Why move to America and demand for Sharia law when…”
Though she did not complete the thought, the statement has sparked conversations across social platforms, with many interpreting it as a critique of people who migrate to Western nations but still insist on imposing strict religious or cultural systems that contradict their host country’s values.
While some Nigerians agreed with her stance, stressing that migrants should integrate into their new environment, others argued that people should be free to practice their faith wherever they go, provided it does not infringe on the rights of others.
Toolz, who is known for using her platform to address social issues, has once again opened up a fresh debate on migration, religion, and cultural identity.
