Frustrated Nigerians have taken to social media to call out the federal government, demanding that all taxes be suspended indefinitely.
The public outrage stems from widespread dissatisfaction with government management of resources and the nation’s mounting economic woes. One user, Sassafrass, voiced the sentiment sharply:
“Taxes should be canceled for the foreseeable future. Not one more penny should be paid to the federal government until they can get their act together. We are expected to balance our checkbook. The same should be done with them. Fraud scam.”
Many Nigerians echoed the call, citing concerns over perceived corruption, mismanagement of public funds, and the lack of tangible improvements in infrastructure, security, and social services despite years of taxation.
Economic analysts warn that while public frustration is understandable, an indefinite halt on tax collection could significantly impact government revenue and service delivery. However, citizens insist that accountability must precede any further payments.
The outcry reflects growing impatience with perceived systemic failures and has sparked nationwide debate about fiscal responsibility and governance in Nigeria.
