The Nigerian Army says its snipers are playing an increasingly decisive role in ongoing counter-terrorism operations, reshaping the battlefield through precision tactics and intelligence-driven engagements.
According to military sources, specially trained snipers recently executed a coordinated ambush in Kurawa Village, where they successfully established a kill-zone that neutralised 11 armed terrorists before the insurgents could initiate any attack.
The operation was reportedly based on actionable intelligence, allowing troops to track the movement of the armed group and position themselves strategically. By engaging the terrorists from concealed vantage points, the snipers prevented direct contact with civilians and other security personnel, minimising collateral damage.
Military analysts note that the increased deployment of snipers reflects a broader shift toward targeted, high-impact operations in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism. Precision engagements, they say, not only reduce risks to troops but also disrupt terrorist planning and morale.
The Nigerian Army has continued to invest in advanced training, surveillance, and intelligence capabilities as part of efforts to weaken terrorist networks across affected regions. Officials say such operations demonstrate growing effectiveness in denying armed groups freedom of movement and the ability to launch attacks.
Residents in surrounding communities have welcomed the development, expressing hope that sustained intelligence-led operations will further improve security and stability in the area.
