The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, held a high-level meeting with Egypt’s Defence Chief, Abdel Mageed Saqr, during the ongoing EDEX 2025 exhibition in Cairo.

The meeting, which took place in place of an earlier postponed official visit, focused on strengthening and expanding defence cooperation between Nigeria and Egypt.

During the discussion, both officials explored areas of mutual interest, including military training, strategic partnerships, and collaboration on defence technology and equipment. The meeting reflects Nigeria’s commitment to deepening defence ties with key partners on the African continent to enhance security and military capabilities.

Dr. Matawalle emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in tackling security challenges, particularly in the areas of counter-terrorism and regional stability. “Our discussions with Egypt aim to build stronger defence collaboration that will benefit both nations and contribute to peace and security in Africa,” he stated.
