Governor Alex C. Otti has dismissed speculation about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that such a move is not imminent.
In a recent statement, Otti emphasized that political decisions are guided by individual circumstances rather than trends, saying: “Those waiting for me to defect to APC will have to wait a longer time. Everyone has their own opinion and circumstances; you don’t just join APC because many other governors are joining.”
The governor’s comments come amid widespread political realignments in Nigeria, where several high-profile politicians have recently shifted allegiances. Otti’s clarification signals his intent to carefully consider any political move rather than follow the momentum of others.
Political analysts note that Otti’s stance underscores the importance of strategic decision-making in party politics, particularly ahead of upcoming elections, and demonstrates his focus on personal political strategy over mass trends.
The governor has not indicated any alternative plans, leaving supporters and party observers to speculate on his next steps in the evolving political landscape.
