The Edo State House of Assembly this week summoned Natasha Osawaru over what it described as “alleged misconduct,” after a viral video capturing a heated confrontation between her and her husband 2Baba in London.
At plenary, the Speaker announced that Natasha’s name had “been trending negatively in the media,” and warned that her actions risk “dragging the House into disrepute.” She’s been asked to appear before the House’s Ethics & Privileges Committee within seven days to explain herself. The committee is to deliver its findings within two weeks.
The political house’s move follows the circulation of a video said to show 2Baba being escorted by UK police — handcuffed — after a public altercation with Natasha at Gatwick Airport. The video reportedly captured a heated argument between the couple following 2Baba’s interaction with fans after landing.
Further fuel was added when former managers of the singer appeared on an Instagram Live with media personality Daddy Freeze. They alleged that Natasha had developed controlling behaviour over 2Baba’s finances and career, describing outbursts of anger and unhealthy influence. The live session ended abruptly amid loud arguing suspected to involve the couple.
In response to the widespread public reaction, 2Baba has addressed fans and followers, describing the ongoing drama as “dangerous” and calling on everyone to “cease fire.” He insisted that neither he nor Natasha posted the controversial “help me” message that previously circulated on social media. He asked the public and media to allow them space to resolve their issues privately.
He emphasized that while many couples experience private disagreements, the public spectacle — especially with intimate details being exposed online — was harmful, not just to their family but to Natasha’s safety too.
The controversy has triggered concern from members of 2Baba’s family. His brother recently appealed publicly for him to accept family support, hinting at deeper personal struggles at play.
Meanwhile, fans and some public figures have weighed in — some sympathising with 2Baba and Natasha, others calling for accountability, given the allegations of coercive behaviour and the involvement of a lawmaker.
If the Assembly’s Ethics & Privileges Committee rules against Natasha, she could face disciplinary action — a significant political risk given her role in the House.
