In a show of appreciation for the dedication of Nigeria’s military personnel, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, hosted a special Christmas luncheon for frontline troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Saturday, 27 December 2025, in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The luncheon was organised to recognise the resilience, commitment, and sacrifices of troops safeguarding lives and maintaining peace across the Joint Operations Area.
Represented by Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Mutkut, the COAS extended warm Christmas greetings to the troops and emphasised the significance of the festive season. He described Christmas as a time of love, sacrifice, hope, and renewal, highlighting it as an opportunity to reflect on shared humanity and collective responsibility.
The gathering also served as a morale booster, reaffirming the nation’s gratitude to soldiers on the frontlines of counter-terrorism operations in the Northeast, recognising their role in ensuring security and stability for Nigerians.
