Ahmad Ali, who previously gained attention for his vocal criticisms of Dr. Bello Matawalle, has publicly apologized, revealing his involvement in a politically motivated media campaign allegedly designed to tarnish the image of the former governor and current Minister of State for Defence.
In a candid statement, Ahmad Ali disclosed that the campaign was reportedly financed by key figures within Zamfara’s political circle. He explained that a wide network of media influencers, journalists, and political operatives from various states was mobilized to create and propagate negative narratives against Dr. Matawalle, with the objective of influencing public opinion.
According to Ahmad, approximately ₦500 million was circulated among participants to sustain both online and offline activities related to the campaign. He expressed deep remorse for his role, stating that he could no longer bear the weight of participating in efforts that undermined the reputation of a leader he now acknowledges served with dedication and integrity.
“I sincerely apologize to Dr. Bello Matawalle and seek his forgiveness,” Ahmad Ali said. “I regret being part of a campaign that misled the public and misrepresented a man who has devoted himself to serving the people.”
The revelation has sparked discussions on political accountability, the role of media in shaping narratives, and the influence of financial incentives in partisan campaigns. Observers note that Ahmad Ali’s public confession may prompt further introspection within Zamfara’s political circles and underscore the importance of ethical conduct in political advocacy.
Dr. Matawalle has not publicly responded to Ahmad Ali’s apology, but the disclosure is expected to resonate with both supporters and critics, highlighting the complexities of political influence and media manipulation in the state.
