The Young Farmers in Nigeria (YoFiN) has taken significant steps toward strengthening youth participation and capacity development in the agricultural sector through strategic engagements with key government institutions.
A delegation comprising the National Coordinator, Deputy National Coordinator, and North Central Coordinator of YoFiN paid a working visit to the office of Dr. (Mrs.) Ime Andy, Director of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
During the visit, the team introduced YoFiN’s mandate and discussed collaboration opportunities in training young agribusiness owners. The focus areas included entrepreneurial skill development, business scaling, and strengthening youth involvement in SMEDAN’s youth-centered programs. Dr. Andy and her team expressed openness to partnering with YoFiN to support innovations and capacity-building initiatives for young agricultural entrepreneurs.
The YoFiN delegation also visited the Department of Mechanization at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS). Discussions centered on potential collaborative programs in mechanization training aimed at equipping young farmers with modern farming skills and improving their access to contemporary agricultural technologies.
According to the team, these engagements form part of YoFiN’s broader mission to enhance youth productivity in agriculture through improved farming practices, upgraded skills, and exposure to modern tools and innovations.
YoFiN reiterated its commitment to building a vibrant generation of young agripreneurs capable of contributing significantly to national food security and economic growth.
