VP Kashim Shettima Departs Brazil After Representing Tinubu at COP30 Climate Conference




Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has departed Belém, Brazil, following his participation in the 30th Session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the global summit, Shettima joined world leaders, environmental advocates, and climate experts to discuss Africa’s vulnerability to climate change and Nigeria’s commitment to driving sustainable development.

The Vice President highlighted the country’s efforts in renewable energy, climate financing, and environmental adaptation programs aimed at protecting vulnerable communities from the effects of flooding, desertification, and food insecurity.

He also emphasized the need for stronger international partnerships, particularly in technology transfer and climate investments that align with Nigeria’s green economic goals.

Shettima’s engagement at COP30 was widely regarded as successful, reinforcing Nigeria’s role in global climate negotiations and ensuring the nation’s interests remain well represented on the international stage.

The Vice President is expected to brief President Tinubu and federal stakeholders upon his return to Abuja, as the country continues to advance its climate action strategies ahead of key future milestones.
