Afropop star and entrepreneur, Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr. Eazi, has shed light on his upbringing, career journey, and why he considers himself more of a businessman than just a musician.
Speaking about his background, Mr. Eazi clarified misconceptions about his rise to fame.
“I didn’t come from a poor background. My dad was a pilot and later started an aviation consulting company. After my early education in Nigeria, I moved to Ghana where I studied Mechanical Engineering at KNUST. At 23, I came back to Nigeria and worked as a mechanical engineer with Schlumberger,” he revealed.
According to him, music makes up only a fraction of his revenue streams.
“Music is only about 20% of my income. Long before fame, I was already a businessman. I tried many things—club promotion, e-commerce, and other ventures. Today, I run companies across 18 African countries,” he said.
Now 34, the artist-turned-investor is leveraging his platform for long-term impact. Together with his wife, actress and fashion influencer Temi Otedola, Mr. Eazi says they are committed to building businesses that will outlive entertainment trends.
“I’m not just an artist but also an entrepreneur and investor. That’s why I always say, I’m more than music—I’m a businessman first.”
Mr. Eazi’s journey highlights the growing wave of Nigerian entertainers who are expanding their influence beyond music, creating sustainable ventures across Africa and beyond.
