In a bold move aimed at restoring unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several high-profile members during its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Among those expelled are Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), former Governor Ayo Fayose, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, and several others, all cited for engaging in anti-party activities that undermined the party’s cohesion and progress.
The expulsion was ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates at the convention, signaling the PDP leadership’s determination to eradicate internal divisions and strengthen organizational discipline. Party officials emphasized that the decision reflects a broader strategy to ensure that the PDP enters the 2027 elections as a united and focused political force.
“This decisive action demonstrates our commitment to preserving the integrity of the party and addressing behaviors that threaten its progress. The PDP must move forward as one,” a party spokesperson said.
Political analysts note that the move could have significant implications for the party’s internal dynamics, as expelled members have considerable influence and followership. Observers are closely watching how this decision will shape the PDP’s strategies and alliances ahead of the next general elections.
