Pastor Femi Lazarus Criticizes U.S. Motives in Reported Plans to Intervene in Nigeria

Amid growing discussions around reported U.S. military intervention or involvement in Nigeria, popular cleric Pastor Femi Lazarus has voiced strong criticism over what he describes as Western hypocrisy and strategic interference.

In a widely shared commentary, Lazarus recalled how the United States blocked Nigeria from acquiring weapons during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“When Jonathan was in power, the U.S. blocked Nigeria from buying weapons to fight terrorists. Now they suddenly care because they want division,”
he stated.

The pastor argued that foreign powers often show interest in Nigeria only when the nation is internally divided or facing instability, suggesting geopolitical motivations rather than humanitarian concern.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and united, warning that external influence could worsen current tensions in parts of the country.

While the Federal Government has yet to issue a detailed statement on the claims of U.S. involvement, Lazarus’s remarks have sparked a wave of debate online, with many Nigerians questioning global powers’ intentions regarding national security and sovereignty.
