The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted a major aerial operation that decimated a key terrorist stronghold in Arra, an infamous hideout deep within the Sambisa Forest. Authorities described the mission as a decisive blow against insurgent networks operating in the region.
In a statement issued Wednesday in Abuja, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, confirmed that the strikes were carried out on the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke.
Ejodame revealed that the operation followed actionable intelligence from surveillance missions that traced movements of fighters believed to be connected to the Kashomri ambush of October 17. Continued Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) flights over the Kashomri–Sambisa axis detected suspicious activity and makeshift structures within Arra, prompting the coordinated air assault.
NAF strike aircraft executed multiple precision runs on the identified clusters, successfully hitting all designated targets. The bombardment reportedly dismantled the terrorists’ command nodes, disrupted supply channels, and scattered several gathering points used for planning and regrouping.
“The operation dealt a significant setback to the terrorists’ operational capabilities,” Ejodame said, emphasizing that the mission underscores the Air Force’s unwavering commitment to national security and the protection of civilian populations.
He added that the NAF remains resolute in its mandate to dismantle terrorist networks, reinforce ground operations across various theatres, and safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
The latest offensive is part of ongoing joint efforts by security forces to weaken insurgent activities and restore sustained peace across the Northeast.
