In a remarkable display of ingenuity, a businessman identified as Mr. Tochi has turned a property sale into a record-breaking success by using a lottery system to sell his house.
Initially, Mr. Tochi put his house up for sale at ₦150 million, but prospective buyers tried negotiating for lower prices, which he refused. Faced with little interest at his asking price, he devised a creative alternative — sell the house through a lottery.
Each ticket was fixed at ₦1 million, and remarkably, he sold 1,000 tickets, raising a staggering ₦1 billion from the process.
The lottery draw was conducted publicly and transparently, with all participants present to witness the event. At the end of the draw, one lucky ticket holder emerged as the winner and was handed the official documents to the house — a property they secured for just ₦1 million.
The outcome left many amazed, as Mr. Tochi earned far more than his original asking price, while one fortunate buyer walked away with a property at a fraction of its market value.
Observers described the move as both “smart” and “lucky”, noting that it represents a new, unconventional approach to real estate transactions in Nigeria.
