Governor Fintiri Distances Himself from Move to Expel FCT Minister, Calls for Peace and Reconciliation in PDP

The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has publicly dissociated himself from the decision by some party elements seeking the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In a firm statement issued on Sunday, Governor Fintiri emphasized that such a move is not in the best interest of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and risks deepening existing divisions within the party.

Governor Fintiri made it clear that he will not support any action capable of plunging the PDP into further crisis, stressing that unity remains the bedrock for the party’s survival and future success.

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration,” he said.

He appealed to all party stakeholders—leaders, members, and supporters—to embrace dialogue and work collectively toward healing internal rifts. According to him, peace and reconciliation remain the only viable path forward for the PDP, especially at a time when the party must consolidate its strength and refocus on national relevance.

Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his commitment to supporting all initiatives that promote harmony and progress within the party.

“Let me reiterate that my position is guided by the desire for peace and reconciliation, and I will continue to work towards achieving this goal,” he added.

Political observers note that Fintiri’s stance may influence wider party sentiments as the PDP continues efforts to rebuild unity amid ongoing internal disagreements.
