Concerned citizens from Kogi Central have condemned moves to silence Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, insisting that any attempt to undermine her mandate is not just an attack on her but on the entire people of the constituency.
In a strongly worded statement on Thursday, the group declared that discipline cannot override democracy, stressing that the Senate must respect the law and restore Senator Natasha’s right to representation.
“To gag Natasha is to gag Kogi Central. Discipline cannot override democracy. The Senate must obey the law and restore her mandate. Anything less is an assault on representation,” the statement read.
They called on Nigerians to hold their elected lawmakers accountable, urging citizens to contact their representatives at the National Assembly and demand that they speak up in defense of Kogi Central’s democratic rights.
The statement further warned that ignoring the will of the people sets a dangerous precedent.
“Stand with the people of Kogi Central—because their silence today could be yours tomorrow,” the group added.
The development has sparked debate nationwide, with civil society groups and political observers watching closely to see how the Senate will respond.
