Ex-militant leader and Niger Delta philanthropist, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has donated a staggering ₦10 billion to the Delta State Security Trust Fund, in what has been described as one of the largest private contributions to public security in the region’s history.
The donation, announced on Monday, is aimed at strengthening security operations, enhancing intelligence gathering, and supporting efforts to combat rising cases of oil theft, kidnapping, and armed robbery across Delta State.
According to reports, the fund will be used to procure patrol vehicles, surveillance equipment, communication gadgets, and logistics support for security agencies operating within the state.
Speaking during the presentation, Tompolo emphasized the need for peace and stability as a foundation for development in the Niger Delta.
“Peace and security are essential for our people to prosper. This contribution is my way of supporting Delta State’s efforts to protect lives, property, and investments,” he said.
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, commended Tompolo for the generous gesture, describing it as a “patriotic and exemplary act” that reflects true commitment to the welfare of the state and its people.
“This donation will go a long way in boosting our security architecture and restoring confidence among residents and investors,” the governor stated.
Tompolo, who currently plays a key role in Nigeria’s oil pipeline surveillance and protection operations under the Tantita Security Services Limited, has been widely praised for his contributions to peace and development in the Niger Delta.
The ₦10 billion donation is expected to significantly bolster ongoing security reforms in Delta State, reinforcing collaboration between local communities and security agencies to ensure lasting peace and stability.
