Professor Lege Miami, a self-acclaimed political commentator and close associate of Seyi Tinubu, has stirred reactions online after claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has completely cleared Nigeria’s foreign debts.
According to Lege Miami, under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is now “financially free” and no longer owes any foreign nation or institution.
In his words:
“Tinubu has cleared Nigeria’s debt. Nigeria is not owing any country again. We are now debt-free, thanks to his brilliant economic policies and international diplomacy.”
The statement has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions from Nigerians across social media. While supporters of the administration praised the President for his supposed fiscal discipline, many others dismissed the claim, calling it “political comedy” and “false information”, citing the country’s ongoing debt servicing figures as reported by financial agencies.
As of recent data from economic monitors, Nigeria’s total public debt runs into tens of trillions of naira, with significant portions owed to both domestic and foreign creditors.
Meanwhile, Lege Miami’s bold claim continues to trend, fueling both laughter and debate among Nigerians who have grown accustomed to his humorous yet controversial political commentaries.
