“The Only Person That Has Traction Is Peter Obi; Others Are Just Filling the Gaps” — Ayodele Fayose

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has declared that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, remains the only politician currently commanding genuine public support and political traction in Nigeria.

Speaking in a recent interview, Fayose stated that while several politicians continue to position themselves for the 2027 general elections, none of them matches the level of influence, credibility, and connection with the people that Peter Obi enjoys.

“The only person that has traction right now is Peter Obi. All others are just filling the gaps,” Fayose said, stressing that Obi’s rise in national politics represents a major shift in Nigeria’s political consciousness.

Fayose, known for his outspoken political commentary, noted that the former Anambra State governor has maintained a clean reputation and sustained public interest even after the 2023 elections, something rare in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He added that Obi’s consistency and people-centered message continue to resonate with Nigerians, especially the youth and the middle class, who see him as a symbol of accountability and change.

Political observers say Fayose’s remark reflects growing recognition of Obi’s influence beyond party lines, as discussions around Nigeria’s political future intensify ahead of 2027.
