A resident of a violence-affected community in Plateau State has raised concerns over the alleged conduct of some security operatives following renewed clashes between local farmers and suspected armed herders.
Speaking to journalists, the man — who requested anonymity for safety reasons — claimed that soldiers deployed to restore peace were seen escorting fleeing suspects after houses were burned and several villagers reportedly killed.
“We feel abandoned,” he said. “Each time our youths try to defend the community, the security agents intervene, and more of our people end up being harmed.”
The Nigerian Army has not yet issued an official response to these claims as of press time.
However, security analysts have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with lawful authorities while investigations continue.
The Plateau State Police Command and local peace committees have also been called upon to step up efforts toward restoring trust and ensuring justice for all affected communities.
