Development momentum is rising in Nigeria’s South West as three new seaport projects move forward across the region, signalling a bold step toward economic self-reliance and industrial expansion.
The ports include:
✅ Badagry Deep Seaport (Lagos State) – developed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP);
✅ Olokola Deep Seaport (Ogun State) – spearheaded by the Dangote Group;
✅ Ilaje Deep Seaport (Ondo State) – also progressing under a PPP arrangement.
Analysts say these projects will transform the region into a maritime and logistics powerhouse, easing pressure on existing ports in Lagos while opening up new trade corridors across West Africa.
Observers also note that the initiative underscores a strong message of regional determination and foresight, as the South West continues to drive development without overreliance on the Federal Government.
