Ned Nwoko Says He Feels Sorry for Men With Only One Wife, Claims Polygamy Brings Stability and Balance
Senator Ned Nwoko has stirred public debate after declaring that he feels sorry for men who have only one wife, insisting that polygamy provides greater stability and balance in marriage.
Speaking during an interview, the Delta North lawmaker argued that men are naturally polygamous and that having multiple wives helps maintain harmony both at home and in society. According to him, monogamy often leads to unnecessary tension and temptations that could be avoided through polygamous unions.
“I honestly feel sorry for men who have only one wife,” Nwoko said. “Polygamy brings balance. It creates a structure where everyone understands their role, and it reduces the rate of infidelity and secrecy in marriages.”
The senator, who is married to several wives including popular actress Regina Daniels, added that his household functions peacefully because of transparency, mutual respect, and shared responsibilities among his spouses.
His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing with his perspective on traditional marriage values, while others criticized his comments as outdated and patriarchal.
As the debate continues, Nwoko’s statement has once again reignited conversations around polygamy, modern family structures, and the evolving dynamics of marriage in Nigerian society.
