Gospel Star Yinka Ayefele Reveals Intense NBC Scrutiny Before Securing Fresh FM Licence

Popular gospel musician and broadcaster, Dr. Yinka Ayefele (MON), has revealed that he faced intense scrutiny and several challenges from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) before eventually obtaining a licence to operate his now-thriving Fresh FM radio station.

Speaking during a recent interview, Ayefele recounted how the regulatory process tested his patience and determination but also strengthened his resolve to create a credible, people-focused media platform.

“Before Fresh FM came to life, the journey was far from easy,” Ayefele shared. “The NBC scrutinized every detail of my application, and it took a lot of persistence, prayers, and faith to finally get approval.”

He explained that despite the obstacles, his passion for broadcasting and his desire to empower voices within his community kept him going.

“I knew it wasn’t just about owning a radio station — it was about giving people a platform for expression, education, and entertainment,” he said.

Since its inception, Fresh FM has grown into one of Nigeria’s most respected privately owned radio networks, with stations across multiple states including Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos.

Ayefele, who started as a gospel musician before venturing into broadcasting, said the experience taught him resilience and the value of transparency in business and leadership.

“I’m grateful today that what started as a dream has become a household name,” he added. “The challenges only made the success story stronger.”
