In a remarkable show of courage and community vigilance, brave youths from Lade and Dakani communities in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State have successfully apprehended seven suspected bandits believed to have been terrorizing parts of the region.
According to local sources, three of the suspects were captured while attempting to purchase fuel, while the remaining four were later discovered hiding in the nearby bush with dangerous weapons in their possession.
The suspects were immediately handed over to the Nigerian Army unit stationed in Patigi for further investigation and necessary action.
Community leaders have since commended the youths for their bravery, describing their actions as a clear example of citizen-led security vigilance. They also called on the government to support local communities with logistics and communication tools to strengthen neighborhood watch efforts.
Residents of Patigi praised the swift response and unity displayed by the youths, noting that their action has brought a renewed sense of safety and confidence to the area.
“These are true heroes,” one resident said. “They didn’t wait for anyone to protect them — they stood up for their people.”
Security operatives have reportedly begun interrogating the suspects as part of an ongoing operation to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts across Kwara State.
